Fire Retardant Uses and Applications

Flame Stop® manufactures fire retardants for interior woods, exterior woods, closed-cell foams, open-cell foams, and most types of fabrics. Most coatings can and will eventually deteriorate, but our products are primarily penetrants that actually become part of the substrate, bonding to its molecular structure. Our products have been used in amusement parks, apartments, assisted-living facilities, churches, haunted houses, hotels, office buildings, restaurants, schools, theaters, cruise ships, plus commercial and residential construction — our products save lives & property, and can be used virtually anywhere!

Reliable Fire Protection

Flame Stop® fire protective coatings are intumescent paint formulations that prevent flames from spreading by developing a self-extinguishing reaction. Plus, they are economical to apply, because they normally only require one application, incorporating low-pressure spraying equipment. This compares with other flame-retardant chemicals and paints that require two or three applications with high-pressure spraying equipment. Flame Stop® products are user-friendly and shipped ready to use. Our intumescent paint can be applied as a top coat to achieve 30-minute ratings on most wood applications.

Our products prevent flames from spreading by developing a chemically self-extinguishing reaction. Flame Stop® fire retardants and Fire Barrier Caulks and Puttys are the most user-friendly, inspector-friendly, and checkbook-friendly fire protection products on the market today. Our labor-saving spray-on fire retarding applications and intumescent paint are suitable for interior woods, exterior woods, closed-cell foams, open-cell foams, and most types of fabrics. All fire retardant coatings can, and eventually will, deteriorate, but Flame Stop® products are designed to last longer. We incorporate low-pressure spray equipment in comparison to the two to three applications with high-pressure equipment that most fire retardants require. In fact, Flame Stop®II actually becomes part of the substrate and bonds to it’s molecular structure.
